Bonnie Springs Old Nevada

Originally built in 1843 as a stopover for the wagon trains going to California down the Old Spanish Trail, Bonnie Springs has been used as a tourist attraction since 1952. Now this replicated old American West mining town includes gunfights in the street, hangings, an 1880 melodrama, miniature train, US Post Office, blacksmith display, wax museum and Boot Hill Cemetery. A 1-hour guided horseback ride through Red Rock Canyon costs $55 (no children under 6) is offered 9am-3.15pm - and there is a petting zoo, duck pond and aviary for families. Breakfast, lunch, dinner - ranch food including Cowboy Toast and Bronco Burgers - and cocktails are also gets you here in half an hour and is provided through Star Land Tours (702 296 4381) or for $90 by Bonnie Springs for groups of 6 or more.

Opening Hours Wed-Sun 10.30am-6pm (summer), 10.30am-5pm (winter) 
Cost $20 per car (up to 6 people and includes a $10 restaurant coupon) or $3 per person on a bus. Price includes access to the zoo
